ASB Formal Report
Position Assessment: So far this school year I have been involved with class t-shirts and their creation, class shout outs, and Fall Fest preparation. The Junior officer team and I created the design back in summer, and had been advertising for them on our personal and class accounts. We also individually messaged or emailed our peers that had requested a shirt who had not yet paid for it. Our Officer team also came up with a new idea to promote our classmates with our class of 22 accounts, with shoutouts. We do this shout out one every week or every other week, showcasing the talent and pride we have in our classmates. It has received very positive feedback, and people look forward to filling out the form and seeing the winners for each category. For Fest the Junior Class discussed and decided on the Fall Fest overall theme and our individual theme. We decided to focus on Harvest, and the aspects of fall such as corn mazes, pumpkins, scarecrows, and the country aspect to it. We have ideas for our door and a special idea for our truck. We additionally have exact wording on how our school is supposed to dress (Country outfits ex: flannel, overalls, boots, etc). We need to further discuss what our concrete ideas are for both the competitions, and how ours will be unique and better from the other classes.
Professional Development: With professional development so far we have worked on it through the starting of the mock interview process. We have researched many aspects of three jobs, such as the salary, amount of schooling, the majors, and demand for the job. In addition, we have also had class discussions about our journal, our book study, and fall fest, showing facilitative leadership. This has also been demonstrated through Junior class officer meetings that we have held to discuss class t-shirts and fall fest ideas.
Concerns/Change: My only concern is the level of participation we will receive with our brand new Fall Fest. Since we are testing the waters and we have never attempted a virtual spirit week, I am a bit worried about our school’s reaction and effort with the week. Students already feel insecure behind a camera, and are reluctant to go to in person events. I just don’t want our expectations to exceed the actual predicted outcome of this event.
Positive Comment: I would love to make a positive comment about Kayla Pankey!! She is doing such an amazing job as Junior Class publicity officer. Her posts for the class shout outs are organized, clean, and beautiful. They are simple yet get the message across. Same with her advertisements for class T shirts, they look very professional and eye catching. Kayla is definitely fulfilling her role and I am proud of her.
My Impact: In regards to our Core Principles I am happy to say that I am sticking with them and following them. Even amongst all the panic and new challenges with Covid and this new learning environment, I am going with the flow and expecting the unexpected. Change is good, and allows for new growth and experiences I would have never got with regular in person school. Also, virtual school has allowed me to catch up on my mental health and self care. I was glad and liked in a way starting my Junior year virtually, it allowed me to ease into it and see the playing field. Our Junior class has done a pretty good job connecting our class, with shared positivity through the class superlatives. I definitely related to the principle of fail forward when I received my eval, and how I have not been doing minutes. I stumbled a little, not even aware I was supposed to be doing minutes when we had not had any real meetings. I have learned from my mistake, and am moving forward with minutes as we progress into Fall Fest. As for impacting my community and peers I think this can be shown through class spotlights and the Evolve challenge of highlighting specific people. This will also be shown when I complete my link crew meeting with freshmen tomorrow as well as write positive postcards to them.

Leadership
Position Assessment: For the months of October and November I accomplished Fall Fest, T shirt sales, and Dude Be Nice. For Fall Fest I dressed up with spirit every day and submitted my pictures, as well as decorated Emma’s door and a tractor. We were proud to get second place and we were proud of how our decorations turned out. At the drive through I helped sell t-shirts with my fellow officers. During November I helped with planning Dude Be Nice, with Perez’s gift basket. Anthony, Naomi, and I were in charge of his chair for the event. I also made him a video and a card.
Professional Development: I have worked to further my organizational skills, time management, and facilitative leadership skills since the last formal meeting. This really came to play and be shown with Fall Fest, dividing up roles and responsibilities for the Juniors to do. As well as planning timing for the Tractor, when to meet early to decorate the door, and planning posts in advance to encourage spirit amongst our class with our Instagram. These skills being develops help me and my future by helping me effectively manage all my responsibilities and issues in my life to produce good quality, on time work. This will save me stress and give me better outcomes in everything I strive to do.
Concerns/Change: One major thing I am concerned about is the spread of COVID with the reopening of school. I personally feel we returned to early, and even with measures in place we will increase in numbers rapidly and cause more harm than good. I am worried going back will affect the second semester, and I wish for a school year online until school truly comes back, no threats of corona, sports, classes and all. I would like a change in the school to lessen time on school, to have a hybrid online and in class sessions. I just want everyone to be healthy and alright.
Positive Comment: I would like to make a positive comment on all the officer teams for their efforts for Fall Fest. The event was really successful, which was really impressive to me due to the fact that it was our first pilot of a virtual event. All the teams were able to make nice floats and door decorations, and we were helping each other out. There was a lot of hard work and creativity put into this, and I would like to applaud all.
My Impact: So far with school being back I am trying my hardest to be nice and accommodating to my classmates and freshmen especially. I was aware how hard it was my first year and how nerve wracking it was, so I need to pay it forward. I have tried my best to help go out of my comfort zone and try new things, with events like Fall Fest and Life. I am maintaining a positive attitude despite fears and doubts of school being back in person.
